Types of Clasps

Attach the Hook to one end of the strand and the Eye to the other. Insert the hook into the eye to fasten.

A toggle clasp consists of a bar and a loop, circle, or other shape. Attach the bar to one end of the strand and the loop to the other end. To fasten, feed the bar through the loop.

A Heart Toggle clasp is a fancy version of a regular Toggle clasp.

The S hook is interesting because it does not permanently attach to the jewelry piece. Instead, you finish each end of the strand with a jump ring. To fasten the piece, you thread a ring onto each part of the hook.

The Lobster Claw clasp is both popular and secure. It can be used with a jump ring or a split ring.

Crimp beads come in two shapes, tube and round. Tube crimps are usually Sterling or Gold filled and the round ones are base metal.

Crimp beads are used in combination with beading wire. The crimp beads finish the end of your beading and secure a loop that attaches to the clasp. They can be used in the place of a bead tip or in addition to one in order to help keep the knot inside of the bead tip.
